We have released a PII masking feature for MedGen Japan, an AI assistant designed for physicians in Japan.
This feature automatically detects and masks parts of a question that may contain PII before the physician submits the question to MedGen Japan. This enables physicians to use MedGen Japan more safely while taking appropriate care in handling PII, even in the busy settings of daily clinical practice.
We believe this feature can also help reduce the risks associated with the use of generative AI in medical institutions by encouraging consideration for PII before questions are submitted.
As an AI assistant built for physicians in Japan, MedGen Japan will continue to enhance the accuracy of literature searches and evidence presentation, while also developing features that take into account Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information and the information management principles required in medical practice.
