Nihin Media Inc., developer of the AI assistant for physicians “MedGen Japan,” has launched a joint research project with Science Tokyo (Tokyo University of Science and Technology) starting in March 2026.
The research aims to develop a new benchmark for evaluating generative AI in medicine.
While previous studies often focused on how accurately AI systems answer exam-style questions, this project will evaluate how effectively generative AI supports physicians’ real-world information needs in clinical settings.
The study will assess multiple aspects including accuracy of information, clarity of evidence presentation, quality of summaries, and usability within real clinical time constraints.
Led by the Department of General Medicine at Science Tokyo and conducted with the cooperation of several teaching hospitals, the research is supported by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s “TOKYO SUTEAM” startup collaboration program.
